How do I place a hold on an item?

Answer

To place a Hold:

1. Search for the item in our Search Catalogue. A "Place Hold" button will be shown beside the item if it is available for requests.

2. You'll need to log into your Library Account to proceed with placing a hold.

3. After logging in, you can choose the branch where you want to pick up the item. It'll be shipped there for you.

4. Holds are kept at the Lending section for five days, and you'll receive an email notification. If you don't pick up the item within five days, it'll be re-shelved.

Important notes about holds/requests:

  • There is no charge for this service
  • You can see your requested items and holds that are ready for pick-up by logging in to My Account online
  • You can have your requested item delivered to the branch of your choice, and you can change the branch of choice on any requested item, unless the item is already delivered to the pickup location (sitting on the holds shelf)
  • Materials are delivered as quickly as possible, but we cannot guarantee a specific arrival date or time
  • You will be notified when your item is ready for pick-up by email

LIWA Holds:

Faculty and students may also request books from member libraries of the UAE Higher Education Library Consortium (Zayed University and Higher Colleges of Technology) by selecting the LIWA link in the online catalog.
